Sandra Birchmore Trusted This Department — Look at What They Did

Sandra Birchmore joined the Stoughton Police Explorers as a child with nobody left. The officers who ran it were supposed to mentor her. Federal prosecutors allege the union president began a physical relationship with Sandra at fifteen. His twin and the deputy chief who oversaw the program also crossed boundaries, according to POST and departmental findings. When Sandra was found dead at twenty-three with a strap around her neck, the local system called it suicide before examining her phone or compelling DNA from the last person seen entering her building. That department has been producing scandal for decades. Extortion in handcuffs on duty. A chief convicted for covering it. The FBI running a wire inside the station. A deputy chief's compromising photos hitting every inbox in the building. A sergeant killing a seventy-four-year-old man with his truck and going back to work. The FBI found what the locals missed. Farwell's federal trial starts October 5.
