Marco Polo
År 1271 lämnade den sjutton år gamle Marco Polo sin hemstad Venedig och påbörjade världshistoriens kanske mest berömda resa till Khubilai khans hov i Kina. Vid hemkomsten avfärdades hans reseskildringar som rena fantasierna – själv hävdade Polo att han bara hade berättat hälften.
Men vem var egentligen Marco Polo? Hur kom det sig att han begav sig till Kina? Och hur kunde just han ha en sådan speciell relation med det mäktiga riket i Öst?
