Why Is the Book of Psalms Really About Jesus? (Introduction to Psalms) | Daily Devotional & Bible Study
In this episode I share why we are moving into the book of Psalms for our next study. We look at Psalms as the longest book in the Bible, the Old Testament book most often quoted by Jesus and the New Testament writers, and a book that points to Jesus long before He was born. Questions this episode answers Is Psalms the longest book of the Bible? Yes. With 150 chapters, Psalms is the longest book in the Bible. It is a collection of prayers and songs written over many centuries by David, Asaph, the sons of Korah, Moses, and others. Why do people say the Psalms are about Jesus? Jesus Himself said that everything written about Him in the Psalms had to be fulfilled (Luke 24:44). Many psalms point to His kingship, His suffering, and His resurrection, and the New Testament quotes them often to explain who He is. How should I start reading the Psalms? Read one psalm at a time and notice the emotions and the truths about God in it. Ask what it shows you about Jesus and how you can pray it back to Him. The Psalms teach us how to talk to God. Bible Study Live is a small-group Bible study trip with Rachael Groll. Study Scripture where it happened in Rome, or slow down for a contemplative Bible study retreat in Maui.
