Why Can't I Hear God's Voice Clearly? (Psalm 95) | Daily Devotional & Bible Study

In Psalm 95 we remember the generation that wandered in the wilderness. Their disobedience teaches us something important if we pay attention. Today we talk about why you might not be hearing God's voice clearly and how a soft heart makes room to listen. "Today, if you would hear His voice, Do not harden your hearts, as at Meribah, As in the day of Massah in the wilderness." (Psalm 95:7-8) Questions this episode answers Why can't I hear God's voice clearly? There can be many reasons, but Psalm 95 points to a hard heart. When we resist what God has already said, it becomes harder to hear Him. Turning back to Him in humility opens our ears again. What happened at Meribah and Massah? In the wilderness the Israelites grumbled about water and tested God, even after seeing His miracles (Exodus 17:1-7). Psalm 95 uses that moment as a warning not to harden our hearts. How do I keep my heart soft toward God? Respond quickly when He speaks, confess sin, and remember His faithfulness. Hebrews 3 and 4 quote Psalm 95 to urge believers to listen today.
