What Do I Pray When I Feel Attacked? (Psalm 54) | Daily Devotional & Bible Study

Sometimes it feels overwhelming when we face something evil in our lives. But we have a God who overcomes evil, and He longs for us to come to Him when we feel attacked. Today's psalm is a prayer we can use as an example when we face something similar. "Behold, God is my helper; the Lord is the sustainer of my soul." (Psalm 54:4) Questions this episode answers What is the story behind Psalm 54? The heading says David wrote it when the Ziphites told Saul that David was hiding among them. People nearby gave him up to his enemy. The psalm is his short, honest prayer for God to save and vindicate him. How can I use Psalm 54 as a prayer? It follows a simple pattern: call on God, tell Him the problem, declare your trust in Him, and thank Him ahead of time. You can pray it in your own words when you feel under attack. It keeps your eyes on God instead of on the people against you. Does God help us when people turn against us? Yes. Psalm 54:4 says God is our helper and the sustainer of our soul. He may not remove every hard situation right away, but He holds us up through it.
