Where Is God When I'm Suffering? (Psalm 44) | Daily Devotional & Bible Study
As believers, we all go through seasons of suffering, and they can make us wonder where God is. Today we look at Psalm 44, an honest prayer from people who felt forgotten. It shows us how to lean into God's unfailing love, no matter our circumstances. "Rise up, be our help, And redeem us for the sake of Your lovingkindness." (Psalm 44:26) Questions this episode answers Is it okay to question God when I'm suffering? Psalm 44 shows that God's people can bring honest questions to Him. The writers ask why God seems to be asleep, yet they keep talking to Him. Honest lament is a form of faith, not a lack of it. Does suffering mean God has abandoned me? No. In Psalm 44 the people suffer even though they have stayed faithful. Paul quotes this Psalm in Romans 8:36 and then reminds us that nothing can separate us from the love of God in Christ.
