Is God With Me in Sorrow as Well as Joy? (Psalm 30) | Daily Devotional & Bible Study
We all walk through seasons of sorrow and seasons of joy. In Psalm 30 David celebrates the dedication of the temple, and his joy rests on God's faithfulness in every part of life. Today we talk about how God is with us in sorrow as much as He is in joy. "For His anger is but for a moment, His favor is for a lifetime; Weeping may last for the night, But a shout of joy comes in the morning." (Psalm 30:5) Questions this episode answers What does "weeping may last for the night" mean? Psalm 30:5 reminds us that sorrow is real but not final. God's favor lasts, and joy comes in His timing. Is God present when I am grieving? Yes. Psalm 30 celebrates the God who heard David's cry and lifted him up (Psalm 30:1-2). God is near in hard seasons just as much as happy ones. How can I praise God in a hard season? Remember what He has already done, as David does in Psalm 30. Praise does not deny pain. It reminds us that God is faithful through it.
