Can I Bring My Depression and Anger to God? (Psalm 13) | Daily Devotional & Bible Study

Many of us have walked through seasons of depression, especially after a hard time. Today in Psalm 13, we see David come to God with his anger and sorrow, and we learn that we can bring those hard emotions to God too. "But I have trusted in Your lovingkindness; My heart shall rejoice in Your salvation." (Psalm 13:5) Questions this episode answers What is Psalm 13 about? Psalm 13 is a short lament where David asks God, how long? He moves from feeling forgotten to trusting God's lovingkindness and choosing to sing. Is it okay to tell God I'm angry or sad? Yes. The Psalms are full of raw, real prayers, and God invites us to bring Him our feelings. He longs to meet us there and help us through. What should I do if I'm struggling with depression? Bring your feelings to God in prayer and reach out to people you trust. It is also wise to talk with a doctor or counselor, since God often brings healing through others.
