Does Psalm 128 Teach the Prosperity Gospel? (Psalm 128) | Daily Devotional & Bible Study

Many of us have heard of the prosperity gospel, but what does Scripture actually say? Today we study Psalm 128, a passage that is sometimes used to support false teaching, and look at what it really means to be blessed by God. "Blessed is everyone who fears the LORD, Who walks in His ways." (Psalm 128:1) Questions this episode answers What is the prosperity gospel? The prosperity gospel teaches that God promises wealth, health, and success to believers who have enough faith or give enough money. It treats God as a path to material gain. Scripture does not support that view, and Jesus told His followers to expect trouble in this world. What does it mean to be blessed in Psalm 128? Psalm 128 describes the blessing of a life that fears the Lord and walks in His ways. The blessing is rooted in a right relationship with God, not a formula for getting rich. It is a picture of God's goodness, not a promise of a life without problems. Does God promise Christians wealth and health? No. God promises His presence, His care for what we truly need, and eternal life in Christ. Many faithful people in Scripture suffered and went without, and God was still good to them.
