What Does Humble Surrender to God Look Like? (Psalm 123) | Daily Devotional & Bible Study

Psalm 123 shows a humble posture before God as the psalmist asks Him to step in and help. In the New Testament, Jesus shows the same humility as He serves people and serves His Father. Today we talk about what it looks like to surrender to God, even when we don't understand. "To You I lift up my eyes, O You who are enthroned in the heavens!" (Psalm 123:1) Questions this episode answers What is the meaning of Psalm 123? Psalm 123 is a short Song of Ascents where the writer lifts his eyes to God. He compares himself to a servant watching his master's hand, waiting for mercy. It is a prayer of humble dependence in a season of contempt. How did Jesus model humility? Jesus washed His disciples' feet and said He came to serve, not to be served (Mark 10:45). Philippians 2 says He humbled Himself to the point of death on a cross. His humility shows us how to trust the Father. How do I surrender to God when I don't understand? Surrender starts by looking to God instead of your circumstances, just as Psalm 123 does. Tell Him honestly what you don't understand, then choose to trust His character. You can wait for His mercy with hope.
