Does God Really Watch Over Me Day and Night? (Psalm 121) | Daily Devotional & Bible Study

Today we look at Psalm 121, a prayer of confidence about the God who watches over His people every moment of every day. We talk about how He protects us from things we may never even notice. I pray it leaves you encouraged and resting in His care. "I will lift up my eyes to the mountains; From where shall my help come? My help comes from the LORD, Who made heaven and earth." (Psalm 121:1-2) Questions this episode answers What is Psalm 121 about? Psalm 121 is a song of ascents, sung by pilgrims on their way up to Jerusalem. It reminds them that their help comes from the Lord who made heaven and earth. He keeps watch over their going out and their coming in. Does God ever stop watching over us? No. Psalm 121:4 says the One who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. God's care for His people is constant, day and night, even when we are not aware of it. What does it mean that my help comes from the Lord? It means our final source of help is not people, plans, or our own strength. It is the God who created everything. If He made heaven and earth, nothing we face is too big for Him. Links Psalm 121 is a psalm to pray slowly, and that is just what we make room for at our contemplative Bible study retreat in Maui.
