Does God Care About the Poor and Vulnerable? (Psalm 113) | Daily Devotional & Bible Study
Throughout Scripture we see God's heart as He bends down to care for the people He made. Today in Psalm 113 we see His care for the most vulnerable, a theme woven through both the Old and New Testaments. The God of hope stays involved with His creation. "From the rising of the sun to its setting The name of the LORD is to be praised." (Psalm 113:3) Questions this episode answers What is Psalm 113 about? Psalm 113 praises God as high above the nations, yet He stoops down to look on heaven and earth. He raises the poor from the dust and gives the barren woman a home. It shows a God who is both exalted and near. What are the Hallel psalms? Psalms 113 through 118 are known as the Egyptian Hallel. They were sung at major Jewish feasts, including Passover. Many scholars believe the hymn Jesus and His disciples sang after the Last Supper came from these psalms (Matthew 26:30). Why does God care so much for the vulnerable? God is compassionate by nature, and He defends the poor, the widow, and the orphan all through Scripture. Jesus showed this same heart in His ministry. We reflect God when we care for people in need.
