What If I Feel Like I Have a Target on My Back? (Psalm 11) | Daily Devotional & Bible Study

Psalm 11 speaks to two things many Christians face: feeling like we have a target on our backs, and living in opposition to the culture. Today we look at David's prayer about these very things and the encouragement we have as believers. "In the LORD I take refuge; How can you say to my soul, 'Flee as a bird to your mountain'?" (Psalm 11:1) Questions this episode answers What does Psalm 11:3 mean about the foundations being destroyed? David's advisers fear that everything stable is falling apart and ask what the righteous can do. David answers by pointing to the Lord on His throne, who still sees and judges rightly. Should Christians run from opposition? David chose to take refuge in God instead of fleeing in fear. We can stand firm because the Lord is our safe place. Why do believers feel at odds with culture? Jesus said His followers are not of the world, even while they live in it (John 17:14-16). Living by God's values will sometimes put us at odds with the culture around us.
