What Do I Do With Anger When I'm Falsely Accused? (Psalm 109) | Daily Devotional & Bible Study

Today we look at the hard emotions that come when someone accuses us falsely. What do we do with the anger, and how do we work through it? Psalm 109 shows us how David brought his raw feelings straight to God instead of taking matters into his own hands. "Help me, O LORD my God; Save me according to Your lovingkindness." (Psalm 109:26) Questions this episode answers Is it wrong to feel angry when someone lies about me? Anger at injustice is a normal human response, and the Bible does not pretend we never feel it. Ephesians 4:26 says to be angry and yet not sin. The key is what we do with that anger, and Psalm 109 shows David taking it to God in prayer. Why does Psalm 109 sound so harsh? Psalm 109 is an imprecatory psalm, a prayer where David asks God to deal with his enemies. He is honest about his pain, but he leaves judgment in God's hands rather than seeking revenge himself. That honesty gives us permission to bring our real feelings to God. How should a Christian respond to false accusations? Bring the hurt to God first, as David does when he cries, help me, O Lord. Trust that God sees the truth and will defend you in His time. Romans 12:19 reminds us that vengeance belongs to the Lord, which frees us from carrying it.
