Why Does God Love Me When I Don't Deserve It? (Psalm 103) | Daily Devotional & Bible Study

Even though we don't deserve it, we serve a God whose compassion and love for us will never fade. Today we look at how Psalm 103 shows God's love for us. Our response should always be praise, because God loves us because of who He is, not because of what we do. "The LORD is compassionate and gracious, Slow to anger and abounding in lovingkindness." (Psalm 103:8) Questions this episode answers What does Psalm 103 say about God's love? Psalm 103 says God forgives our sins, heals, redeems, and crowns us with lovingkindness and compassion. It says He removes our sins as far as the east is from the west. His love is described as higher than the heavens are above the earth. Does God's love depend on how good I am? No. Psalm 103:10 says He has not dealt with us according to our sins. God loves because of His own character. In Jesus we see that love most clearly, since Christ died for us while we were still sinners, as Romans 5:8 says. How should I respond to God's love? Psalm 103 begins and ends with bless the Lord, O my soul. Praise is the natural response to a love we could never earn. Remembering His benefits keeps our hearts grateful.
