Where Do I Find Real Hope in a Hard Season? (Psalm 102) | Daily Devotional & Bible Study

We all have hard seasons when we need hope to hold onto, but many of us are holding onto false hope. Today we walk through Psalm 102, a lament psalm that points us to hope in the One who holds our hearts and remains forever. "But You, O LORD, abide forever, And Your name to all generations." (Psalm 102:12) Questions this episode answers What is a lament psalm? A lament is an honest prayer of grief or distress that still turns toward God. Psalm 102 is called a prayer of the afflicted when he is faint. Laments show us it is safe to pour out our pain before the Lord. What is false hope? False hope is trusting in something that cannot hold us, like circumstances, people, or our own strength. Those things change and fade. Psalm 102 contrasts our fleeting days with a God who never changes. Where does real hope come from? Real hope rests on who God is. Psalm 102:27 says He is the same and His years will not come to an end, and Hebrews 1 applies these words to Jesus. Because He does not change, our hope in Him is secure.
