Why Did Judas Betray Jesus, and Why Does God Seem Silent? (Matthew 26) | Daily Devotional & Bible Study

Today we look at Wednesday of Holy Week and what it really meant when Judas betrayed Jesus for 30 pieces of silver. We also talk about what happens in our own lives when it seems like God is silent. This episode will help you hold on when heaven feels quiet. "'What are you willing to give me to betray Him to you?' And they weighed out thirty pieces of silver to him." (Matthew 26:15) Questions this episode answers Why did Judas betray Jesus for 30 pieces of silver? Matthew 26:14-16 says Judas went to the chief priests and asked what they would give him, and they paid him thirty pieces of silver. John 12:6 tells us he was a thief who took from the money box. Zechariah 11:12-13 had spoken of this same price long before. Why is Wednesday of Holy Week sometimes called Silent Wednesday? The Gospels record little about what Jesus did on that day, so many call it Silent Wednesday. Behind the scenes, though, Judas was making his deal. It reminds us that God's plan is still moving even when we can't see it. What should I do when God seems silent? Keep showing up in prayer and in His Word, even when you don't sense an answer. Silence does not mean absence, and God is often working in ways we can't see yet. The cross and empty tomb that followed this quiet day prove that He keeps His promises.
