The Truman Show is a 1998 film that explores many themes, including:

• Reality TV: The rise of reality TV and the power of mass media
• Surveillance: The banality of surveillance and the impact of constant surveillance
• Freedom: The pursuit of freedom within a manufactured reality
• Truth: The conflict between reality and artificiality and the need to reflect on truth
• Societal pressures: The impact of societal pressures and the need to reflect on individual freedom
• Privacy: The clash between privacy and autonomy and the public's demand for information

The film is also considered a genre-blending work that incorporates elements of dystopian fiction, meta fiction, psychological drama, romantic comedy, satire, and social science fiction.

The film's themes have led to the development of the "Truman Show delusion", a psychological delusion where people believe they are being watched or controlled or that their life is a staged reality show
