Baneful Magic Spiritual Ware-fare and Harm

Succubus. Incubus and Dark Spirits

Key Biblical and Theological Context

• Absence of the Terms: Words like incubus (a male-coded spirit preying on sleeping women) and succubus (a female-coded spirit preying on sleeping men) do not appear in the Old or New Testaments.
• General Demonology: The Bible does address unclean spirits, fallen angels, and demonic influence, which some readers use to infer or categorize nocturnal or sexual temptations. a night creature, screech owl, or wilderness demon depending on the version). Later Jewish folklore and the Talmud expanded Lilith into a nocturnal figure, though her role in the original Hebrew Bible is brief and distinct from medieval demonology.
• Genesis 6 and the Nephilim: Some interpreters try to link incubi/succubi to Genesis 6:1–4, which describes the "sons of God" or Nephilim. However, mainstream Christian theology typically views Genesis 6 as referring to fallen angels, heavenly beings, or corrupt human rulers rather than sexual folkloric demons.
• Folklore Explanations: Historians and biblical scholars note that the myth of the incubus and succubus developed largely in the Middle Ages to rationalize natural physiological and psychological phenomena during sleep, such as sleep paralysis, nightmares, and wet dreams
