An "angel of light" primarily refers to a biblical warning from 2 Corinthians 11:14, which states that Satan disguises himself as an angel of light to deceive people. It is a metaphor for spiritual deception, representing evil forces that present themselves as good, righteous, or enlightening to lead people astray.

1. The Biblical Context (2 Corinthians 11:14)

The Apostle Paul warned the early church that Satan and his followers disguise themselves as "servants of righteousness". Because light is universally associated with truth, purity, and God, the disguise is highly effective. The warning highlights that if evil came in a blatantly destructive form, it would be easily rejected; therefore, it adopts an attractive and appealing guise.

2. Deception and "Wolves in Sheep's Clothing"

In modern theology, the term is frequently used to describe false teachings, temptations, or spiritual experiences that feel positive or logical but contradict core spiritual truths. It serves as a reminder to look past the surface level of a person, idea, or situation and test its underlying roots.

3. The Archangel Uriel 🪴

In specific extrabiblical, Jewish, and esoteric traditions, there is a literal "Angel of Light." The Archangel Uriel’s name translates to "God is my light". In these historical texts, he is often depicted as a celestial being who brings illumination, divine wisdom, and understanding to humanity
