Lacking awareness, being self involved, chasing rainbows, focusing on what the universe isn't giving you and medicating is a recipe for mediocrity (and medicating doesn't just come in the form of alcohol or drugs). Then comes the shame which can elevate or destroy you. How we view the past is rarely accurate, making the allowance of shame and guilt to destroy us even more pointless.
