When God Is Silent
Do you ever feel like God is not answering? This sermon addresses the common spiritual struggle of feeling that God is not speaking or answering prayers by exploring five primary reasons for this perceived silence. It begins by suggesting that God may have already provided clear instructions through general biblical commands, such as loving one's neighbor and sharing the gospel, removing the need for specific new revelation. The message then warns that cherished sin creates a barrier to communication, citing Psalm 66, and emphasizes the necessity of repentance to restore fellowship. Furthermore, it challenges listeners to recognize God's communication as a 'still, small voice' rather than expecting dramatic signs, drawing from the account of Elijah in 1 Kings 19. The sermon also reframes waiting not as passive inactivity but as an active period of spiritual strengthening, supported by Isaiah 40, and critiques self-centered motives in prayer by contrasting James 4:3 with the call to delight in the Lord found in Psalm 37. Finally, it concludes with a pastoral call to salvation, asserting that one must be a sheep of the Good Shepherd, as described in John 10, to truly know and follow His voice.
