Ugandan-NYC Mayor: Inspiration for African Youth

Ugandan-born Zohran Mamdani, a thirty-four-year-old dual citizen, has been elected as New York's mayor, sparking immense pride and inspiration among Ugandans, especially the youth. Mamdani, initially shy but determined, is the son of renowned Ugandan academic Mahmood Mamdani and acclaimed filmmaker Mira Nair. His success, despite his humble background, is seen as a testament to the power of faith and determination. The news has also resonated with young Africans, with former UN official Abdul Mohamed from Ethiopia viewing Mamdani's rise as both symbolic and practical. Mohamed encourages young people to learn from Mamdani's political journey and build political action, as Uganda prepares for elections next year. The Daily News Now! — Every city. Every story.
