Tunisia Protests: 'Against Injustice'

In Tunisia, a significant protest erupted in downtown Tunis, with over a thousand people demanding the release of political prisoners and denouncing President Kais Saieds authoritarian rule. The Against Injustice rally, organized by activists and families of the detained, is part of a larger wave of unrest fueled by political and economic challenges. Protesters also expressed concerns about press freedom, arbitrary arrests, and the Presidents involvement in the judiciary. Human Rights Watch reports over fifty individuals have faced arbitrary arrest or prosecution since late 2022, sparking growing alarm over increasing repression in Tunisia.
