Trump says it would be 'hard for me' to fund New York City if Mamdani becomes mayor

In this political podcast episode, President Trump's statement about withholding federal funding from New York City if left-wing candidate Zohran Mamdani wins the mayoral election creates a tense atmosphere. Trump labels Mamdani a communist and jokes that he'd make current mayor Bill de Blasio look great. Opinion polls suggest Mamdani is slightly ahead of his main rival, former Governor Andrew Cuomo, who Trump surprisingly endorses. Mamdani, a political newcomer, insists he's a democratic socialist, not a communist, and argues for a fresh approach to leadership. With the vote imminent, the outcome will significantly impact New York's relationship with the White House and the city's future direction. The Daily News Now! — Every city. Every story. AI-powered.
