Syria's Alawite Women Targeted in Horrific Kidnappings

Disturbing Pattern of Kidnappings and Sexual Assaults Targeting Alawite Women in SyriaSince the fall of Bashar Assad, a chilling trend of kidnappings and sexual assaults against Alawite women in Syria has emerged, driven by sectarian hatred. Dozens of incidents have been reported, with victims detailing horrific experiences of abduction, rape, and psychological torment. A woman in her mid-thirties recounted being abducted, raped, and told she was born to be a sabaya, a term for war captives or sex slaves. Human rights organizations have received reports of at least thirty-six Alawite women and girls abducted between February and July. Despite official claims of only one genuine abduction, human rights monitors insist the problem cannot be denied. Victims lives have been irrevocably changed, with some seeking illegal abortions and others fleeing the country. The Daily News Now! — Every city. Every story. AI-powered. Hosted on Acast.
