New Bishop Appointed in Irish Catholic Church

Bishop Niall Coll, a native of east Donegal, has been appointed as the new Bishop of Raphoe by Pope Leo XIII, marking his first Irish episcopal selection since his election. Coll, who previously served as Bishop of Ossory, will return to the northwest region where he grew up, replacing Monsignor Kevin Gillespie who had been acting as Diocesan Administrator since Bishop Alan McGuckians departure in 2024.
