Learner Drivers Spend Thousands on Tests

Learner drivers in the UK are spending thousands of pounds and countless attempts to pass their theory and practical tests, with some individuals taking the theory test over a hundred times and the practical test up to thirty-seven times. The AA Driving School released data showing one learner driver spent nearly £3,000 on the theory test alone, while another individual passed the theory exam on their seventy-fifth attempt, costing over £1,700. The practical test presents another significant hurdle, with some individuals spending up to £2,220 on the test without passing. The pass rates for both the theory and practical tests in the 2024-25 financial year were 44.9% and 48.7% respectively. Emma Bush, managing director at AA Driving School, emphasized the importance of thorough revision for the theory test. The Daily News Now! — Every city. Every story. AI-powered. Hosted on Acast.
