DR Congo-Rwanda Peace Deal in Washington

Leaders from the Democratic Republic of Congo and Rwanda are set to sign a peace deal in Washington, hosted by former US President Donald Trump, aiming to end the long-standing conflict in the region. However, recent fighting between government forces and rebels, believed to be supported by Rwanda, has escalated tensions. The M23 rebels, not invited to the signing, are involved in separate peace talks with the DR Congo government. The proposed deal addresses key demands, but past agreements have failed, and the M23s refusal to relinquish seized territory remains a major hurdle. The US and Qatar are coordinating their mediation efforts. The Daily News Now! — Every city. Every story. AI-powered. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
