Catherine Connolly Inaugurated as Ireland's 10th President

Catherine Connolly, an independent politician, is set to be inaugurated as Irelands tenth president, succeeding Michael D. Higgins. She won a landslide victory in October and will take office at Dublin Castle, with a ceremonial motorcade and a service of prayer. Distinguished guests, including Taoiseach Micheál Martin and Northern Irelands First Minister Michelle ONeill, will attend. The Democratic Unionist Party will not send a representative, but Ulster Unionist Party assembly member Steve Aiken will attend. Following the ceremony, Connolly will travel to Áras an Uachtaráin and a state reception will be held at Dublin Castle. The Daily News Now! — Every city. Every story. AI-powered. Hosted on Acast.
