Sci-Fi Subgenres: Hard Sci-Fi + Biopunk

An independent asteroid mining crew breaches a subterranean pocket on Phobos, unearthing a biomechanical sludge that acts as a gateway to a dimension of chaotic energy. As the sludge aggressively mutates the crew into horn-covered beasts, the captain must weaponize the mining equipment to sever the portal. The survival of the Martian colonies depends on keeping the sludge contained.
