6540 Ayn Rand: Speed Freak? Listener Questions

The episode reflects on Ayn Rand as a major moral novelist whose work defended freedom, integrity, and free markets, while also noting the speaker’s criticism that her ethical and political philosophy remained incomplete. It discusses Rand’s public reception, her personal relationships, and the claim that her affair with Nathaniel Branden damaged both her life and her movement.

The conversation also turns to Western culture, with an argument that Greek universalism and Christian mysticism make it difficult to accept real differences in human abilities and outcomes. It closes with practical comments on dating apps and marriage, and with criticism of false claims in the Lindsay Clancy discussion, which he says weaken trust and make relationships harder.
