Story Transcript:

Lv: Siltā vasaras rīta saules stari klusi spīdēja caur daudzstāvu logiem Rīgas Austrumu klīniskās universitātes slimnīcas.
En: On a warm summer morning, the sun's rays quietly shone through the windows of the Rīgas Austrumu klīniskās universitātes slimnīca.

Lv: Gaiteņos skanēja klusinātas sarunas un soļu klusie trokšņi, bet viena gaiteņa galā stāvēja Kristers.
En: Muted conversations and the soft sounds of footsteps filled the corridors, but at the end of one hallway stood Kristers.

Lv: Viņš bija nervozs, spaidīja rokas un ik pa laikam vēroja durvis.
En: He was nervous, wringing his hands and occasionally watching the doors.

Lv: Ilze bija operācijas zālē, un viņš varēja tikai gaidīt.
En: Ilze was in the operating room, and all he could do was wait.

Lv: Slimnīcas uzgaidāmā telpa bija balta un tīra.
En: The hospital waiting room was white and clean.

Lv: Tā smaržoja pēc dezinfekcijas līdzekļiem.
En: It smelled of disinfectants.

Lv: Blakus Kristeram sēdēja sieviete, kura adīja.
En: Next to Kristers sat a woman who was knitting.

Lv: Viņš aizdomājās par to, kas ir tas, ko viņa darīs visu laiku, kamēr viņš gaidīs ziņas par Ilzi.
En: He wondered what she would do the whole time while he waited for news about Ilze.

Lv: Taču viņa adīšanas ritms kaut kādā veidā viņam radīja mieru.
En: However, the rhythm of her knitting somehow calmed him.

Lv: Ilze bija drosmīga, taču arī viņā bija nemiers.
En: Ilze was brave, but there was anxiety in her too.

Lv: Operācijai bija jānotiek bez sarežģījumiem, bet neviens nevarēja garantēt rezultātu.
En: The operation was supposed to proceed without complications, but no one could guarantee the outcome.

Lv: Taču Kristers zināja, ka viņa vēlas izkļūt no slimnīcas veselīga.
En: However, Kristers knew she wanted to leave the hospital healthy.

Lv: Tāpat arī Kristers vēlējās būt stiprais, lai Ilzei nebūtu jāuztraucas.
En: Likewise, Kristers wanted to be strong so that Ilze wouldn't have to worry.

Lv: Viņš dziļi elpoja, mēģinot nomierināt trauksmi krūtīs.
En: He breathed deeply, attempting to calm the anxiety in his chest.

Lv: Laiks lēnām ritēja, un adītāja blakus Kristeram turpināja savu darbu.
En: Time passed slowly, and the knitter next to Kristers continued her work.

Lv: Viņš beidzot neizturēja un klusi uzrunāja sievieti: "Labdien... Vai arī jūs gaidāt kādu no operācijas?"
En: Finally, he couldn't resist and quietly addressed the woman: "Hello... Are you also waiting for someone from surgery?"

Lv: Sieviete pacēla acis no adījuma un smaidīgi atbildēja: "Jā, mans mazdēls. Katru reizi, kad gaidu, šeit adu jaunu džemperi. Tas mani nomierina."
En: The woman raised her eyes from her knitting and answered with a smile: "Yes, my grandson. Every time I wait, I knit a new sweater here. It calms me."

Lv: Kristers mazliet pasmīnēja: "Tiešām? Es domāju, ka man arī vajadzētu iemācīties ko tādu. Mazliet uztrauc mani būt šeit un gaidīt..."
En: Kristers chuckled a bit: "Really? I think I should learn something like that too. It's a bit nerve-wracking being here and waiting..."

Lv: Sieviete klusi piekrita un teica: "Dažreiz ir labi dalīties savās bailēs ar citiem. Tas palīdz." Kristers viņai sasmaidīja pateicīgi.
En: The woman quietly agreed and said, "Sometimes it's good to share your fears with others. It helps." Kristers smiled at her gratefully.
