Fi: Syystuuli pyyhki Aino Laitisen kasvoja, kun hän seisoi kotinsa edessä Helsingin liepeillä.
En: The autumn wind brushed against Aino Laitinen's face as she stood in front of her home on the outskirts of Helsinki.

Fi: Talo oli vanha ja valo tuli sisään suurista ikkunoista.
En: The house was old, and light streamed in through the large windows.

Fi: Mutta vaikka aurinko paistoi, kotona oli synkkää.
En: But even though the sun was shining, it was gloomy at home.

Fi: Perhe riiteli jatkuvasti.
En: The family argued constantly.

Fi: Joka huoneessa, jokaisena päivänä.
En: In every room, every day.

Fi: Aino halusi rauhaa.
En: Aino wanted peace.

Fi: Koti oli täynnä syksyn lehtiä, joita tuuli toi sisään avoimista ikkunoista.
En: The home was filled with autumn leaves, brought in by the wind through the open windows.

Fi: Ne muistuttivat Ainolle hänen perheensä kaaosta.
En: They reminded Aino of the chaos within her family.

Fi: Tuomas, Ainon aviomies, ja Elina, heidän tyttärensä, vaihtoivat lakkaamatta kiukkuisia sanoja.
En: Tuomas, Aino's husband, and Elina, their daughter, continually exchanged angry words.

Fi: Aino tunsi olonsa väsyneeksi, mutta tänään hän aikoi tehdä asialle jotain.
En: Aino felt exhausted, but today she intended to do something about it.

Fi: Hän halusi tuoda perheen yhteen.
En: She wanted to bring the family together.

Fi: Hän päätti pitää perhekokouksen.
En: She decided to hold a family meeting.

Fi: Ainon sydän tykytti hieman, mutta hän uskoi, että tämä oli tarpeellista.
En: Aino's heart beat a little faster, but she believed it was necessary.

Fi: Kello kuusi illalla hän kutsui kaikki olohuoneeseen.
En: At six o'clock in the evening, she called everyone into the living room.

Fi: Elina istui sohvallaan, katse tiukkana, Tuomas nojasi talon nurkkaan, hymähtäen.
En: Elina sat on the couch, her gaze intense, and Tuomas leaned against the corner of the house, smirking.

Fi: Lehtien kahina kuului edelleen ikkunasta.
En: The rustling of the leaves could still be heard through the window.

Fi: "Meidän täytyy puhua," Aino aloitti, sydän kurkussa.
En: "We need to talk," Aino began, her heart in her throat.

Fi: "Tämä riitely.
En: "This arguing.

Fi: Se rikkoo meitä.
En: It's breaking us apart.

Fi: Haluaisin, että kuuntelemme toisiamme."
En: I want us to listen to each other."

Fi: Mutta ennen kuin keskustelua ehti kunnolla alkaa, Tuomas valahti kalpeaksi ja tarttui rintaansa.
En: But before the conversation could truly begin, Tuomas turned pale and clutched his chest.

Fi: "Sattuu," hän sanoi heikosti.
En: "It hurts," he said weakly.

Fi: Aino ja Elina jäätyivät paikoilleen hetken.
En: Aino and Elina froze for a moment.

Fi: Sitten tuli kiire.
En: Then came the rush.

Fi: Aino soitti ambulanssin, Elina piteli isäänsä kädestä ja kuiskasi jotain rauhoittavaa.
En: Aino called an ambulance, and Elina held her father's hand, whispering something soothing.

Fi: Odotellessa ambulanssia, kaikki pysähtyi.
En: While waiting for the ambulance, everything stopped.

Fi: Aino huomasi, miten Elina piti isästään huolta, miten Tuomas alkoi hengittää rauhallisemmin Elinan otteessa.
En: Aino noticed how Elina was taking care of her father, how Tuomas began to breathe...
