Story Transcript:

Fi: Helsingin Kauppatorilla oli vilinää ja vilskettä.
En: Helsingin Kauppatorilla was bustling with activity.

Fi: Tuuli puhalteli viileästi, mutta torilla oli silti lämmin tunnelma.
En: The wind blew coolly, but the market had a warm atmosphere nonetheless.

Fi: Myyjät asettelivat syksyn sadon pöydilleen, ja ilma oli täynnä meren tuoksua ja ruokakojujen herkkuja.
En: Vendors arranged the autumn harvest on their tables, and the air was filled with the scent of the sea and the delicacies from the food stalls.

Fi: Aino ja Eero kuljeskelivat torin reunalla, etsien jotain erityistä.
En: Aino and Eero wandered around the edge of the market, looking for something special.

Fi: "Tarvitsen kurpitsaa", Aino sanoi innoissaan, "Ruoanlaittokilpailu on jo viikonloppuna!"
En: "I need a pumpkin," Aino said excitedly, "The cooking competition is already this weekend!"

Fi: Eero nyökkäsi vakavana.
En: Eero nodded seriously.

Fi: "Muistithan, että tarvitsemme sata kurpitsaa?"
En: "You did remember that we need a hundred pumpkins?"

Fi: Aino oli miettinyt reseptiään hyvin tarkkaan.
En: Aino had thought through her recipe very carefully.

Fi: Hän hymyili itsevarmasti.
En: She smiled confidently.

Fi: "Totta kai!
En: "Of course!

Fi: Sata kurpitsaa.
En: A hundred pumpkins.

Fi: Se kuulostaa paljolta, mutta me teemme kaikkemme voittaaksemme."
En: It sounds like a lot, but we'll do everything we can to win."

Fi: He pysähtyivät vihanneskojun eteen, jonka takana vanha myyjä odotti asiakkaita.
En: They stopped in front of a vegetable stall, behind which an old vendor was waiting for customers.

Fi: Kojussa oli vain yksi kurpitsa jäljellä.
En: There was only one pumpkin left in the stall.

Fi: "Saako tässä ostaa kurpitsoita?"
En: "Can we buy pumpkins here?"

Fi: Eero kysyi innokkaana.
En: Eero asked eagerly.

Fi: "Valitettavasti vain tämä yksi on jäljellä", myyjä vastasi.
En: "Unfortunately, only this one is left," the vendor replied.

Fi: "On ollut kiireinen päivä."
En: "It's been a busy day."

Fi: Aino katsoi kurpitsaa epäuskoisena.
En: Aino looked at the pumpkin incredulously.

Fi: "Eero, tätä ei ole lähellekään tarpeeksi."
En: "Eero, this isn't nearly enough."

Fi: "Eikö me tarvita vain yksi kilo?"
En: "Don't we just need one kilo?"

Fi: Eero yritti ymmärtää.
En: Eero tried to understand.

Fi: "Ei, yksi sata kurpitsaa!"
En: "No, one hundred pumpkins!"

Fi: Aino kiihtyi.
En: Aino exclaimed.

Fi: "Meidän täytyy löytää lisää."
En: "We need to find more."

Fi: He kulkivat kojulta toiselle, keräten kurpitsoita kainalot täynnä, kunnes kurpitsoita oli yltäkyllin.
En: They went from stall to stall, gathering pumpkins with armloads full, until there was an abundance of pumpkins.

Fi: He miettivät, miten kantaisivat ne kaikki kotiin.
En: They wondered how they would carry them all home.

Fi: "Ehkä meidän pitäisi vuokrata auto", Eero ehdotti, mutta heidän miettiessään ratkaisuja, samainen vihannesmyyjä ilmestyi heidän viereensä, nauraen ja veti heidät syrjään.
En: "Maybe we should rent a car," Eero suggested, but as they pondered solutions, the same vegetable vendor appeared beside them, laughing, and pulled them aside.

Fi: "Anteeksi, mutta kuulitteko väärin?
En:...
