Story Transcript:
Cs: Podzimní listí padalo kolem nemocnice na okraji Prahy.
En: The autumn leaves were falling around the hospital on the edge of Praha.
Cs: Chladný vánek vnášel vůni malých zlatých a červených lístků dovnitř otevřenými okny.
En: A cool breeze carried the scent of the small golden and red leaves inside through the open windows.
Cs: Nemocnice byla přesto rušným místem; kroky sestřiček, jemné pípání přístrojů a ševelení rozhovorů vytvářelo nenápadný hluk.
En: Despite this, the hospital was a busy place; the footsteps of nurses, the gentle beeping of machines, and the murmuring of conversations created a subtle noise.
Cs: Jakub postával u recepce nemocnice, znepokojen myslel na svou babičku Ludmilu.
En: Jakub was standing by the hospital reception, worriedly thinking about his grandmother Ludmila.
Cs: Ráno se probudil s pocitem viny.
En: He had woken up that morning with a sense of guilt.
En: Work had kept him away from Ludmila, who had recently undergone a minor surgery.
Cs: Jeho telefon často vibroval pracovními e-maily, připomínaje mu závazky, které ho držely v kanceláři.
En: His phone frequently buzzed with work emails, reminding him of commitments that kept him at the office.
En: However, today he decided to be there for Ludmila.
Cs: "Jakube!"
En: "Jakube!"
Cs: zvolala Eliska, když náhle vstoupila do nemocniční haly.
En: exclaimed Eliska, as she suddenly entered the hospital hall.
Cs: Byla starou přítelkyní, kterou nespatřil už celé roky.
En: She was an old friend he hadn't seen in years.
Cs: "Co tu děláš?"
En: "What are you doing here?"
Cs: "Elisko, návštěva ludmily.
En: "Elisko, visiting Ludmila.
Cs: Co ty?"
En: What about you?"
Cs: odpověděl Jakub a úlevou si oddychl, že vidí známou tvář.
En: replied Jakub with relief at seeing a familiar face.
En: "I'm here for a friend from university," explained Eliska with a smile.
Cs: "Jak se má Ludmila?"
En: "How is Ludmila?"
Cs: "Je po operaci.
En: "She is after surgery.
Cs: Snad se brzy uzdraví.
En: Hopefully, she will recover soon.
En: I'm afraid I’m not here often enough," Jakub admitted.
Cs: "Priorita je důležitá, Jakube.
En: "Priority is important, Jakube.
Cs: Rodina je důležitější než práce," podotkla Eliska moudře.
En: Family is more important than work," noted Eliska wisely.
Cs: Jakub přikývl a její slova v něm rezonovala.
En: Jakub nodded, and her words resonated with him.
Cs: Spolu se vydali k výtahu, Jakub přemýšlel o slovech Elisky.
En: Together they headed for the elevator, Jakub reflecting on Eliska's words.
Cs: Možná bylo opravdu načase dát přednost rodině.
En: Perhaps it was really time to prioritize family.
Cs: Nakonec dosáhli pokoje babičky Ludmily.
En: Eventually, they reached grandmother Ludmila's room.
En: She lay in bed, but her eyes sparkled at the sight of Jakub.
Cs: "Jakube, zlatíčko!
En: "Jakube, darling!
Cs: Tak ráda tě...
