En: It was Heritage Day, and the scent of spring filled the air at the Kirstenbosch Botanical Garden.
En: Sunlight broke through the leaves of the trees, creating small patches of light on the ground.
En: Anika, a botany student, had decided to have a picnic in the garden with Johan, her childhood friend.
En: Anika was eager to collect data on indigenous plants for her research project.
Af: Johan het egter 'n ander plan gehad.
En: Johan, however, had a different plan.
En: He wanted Anika to stop working for a while and appreciate the beauty around her.
En: "Come on, Anika," said Johan, as he spread a blanket on the grass.
En: "You need to enjoy the world around you more."
En: Anika smiled, but she still peered through her magnifying glass at a beautiful piece of fynbos.
En: "I know, Johan, but the research is really important."
En: As she was busy, the sky slowly darkened.
En: Johan looked up and saw heavier clouds approaching.
En: He tried to get Anika's attention.
En: "Look, the weather doesn't look good.
Af: Miskien moet ons eerder skuiling soek.
En: Maybe we should seek shelter instead."
En: "Just a minute longer," Anika said, her eyes focused on the plants.
En: A sudden wind blew across the garden, and the first raindrops began to fall.
En: Johan stood up, reaching out his hand to Anika.
Af: "Kom nou, voordat ons sopnat is!
En: "Come on now, before we get soaked!"
Af: "Met 'n sug het Anika uiteindelik ingestem.
En: With a sigh, Anika finally agreed.
En: They ran to a large tree, just in time before the downpour began.
En: The rain beat hard on the leaves and ground, while they laughed under the tree about how wet they had gotten.
Af: "Jy sien," sê Johan, sy hare druipnat.
En: "You see," said Johan, his hair dripping wet.
En: "It's these moments we'll always remember."
