Af: Die geur van vars reën hang swaar oor die Karoo-plaas.
En: The scent of fresh rain hangs heavily over the Karoo-farm.

Af: Dit is die eerste lentereën, en die plaas strek wyd en oop, sagtepienk en groen ná die droogte van die winter.
En: It is the first spring rain, and the farm stretches wide and open, soft pink and green after the winter's drought.

En: Annelise looks up, a flash of interest in her eyes.

En: "Go ahead, show me then."
