En: The autumn leaves whirled like dancing flames in front of the windows of the Landgasthof.
En: Inside, it was warm, but the tension was as palpable as the cold outside.
En: The smell of pumpkin soup lingered in the air as Anja looked around with a list in her hand.
En: This was the weekend before the big wedding.
De: Anja wollte, dass alles perfekt wird.
En: Anja wanted everything to be perfect.
En: The flowers, the food, the seating arrangement—everything she planned had to run smoothly.
En: Yet Friedrich, her brother, sat casually in a chair and clearly didn’t seem inclined to do anything useful.
De: Anja stöhnte leise.
En: Anja sighed softly.
De: "Friedrich, kannst du bitte mithelfen?
En: "Friedrich, can you please help?"
En: she asked, a hint of irritation in her voice.
En: "I've got it all under control here," Friedrich replied with a grin.
En: "Everything is not under control, and if we don't start soon, we won't be finished."
En: Lukas, the third in the group and the actual groom, watched the two.
En: His role as a mediator often required patience and understanding from him.
De: Er trat zwischen sie.
En: He stepped between them.
En: We'll get it done," he said calmly.
De: Doch in seinem Inneren tobte ein anderer Sturm.
En: But inside, a different storm was raging.
De: Lukas wollte eigentlich keine große Hochzeit.
En: Lukas actually didn't want a big wedding.
En: The thought of eloping and getting married in a way that suited him and his fiancée sounded tempting.
De: Anja bemerkte die Unruhe in Lukas’ Augen.
En: Anja noticed the unrest in Lukas’ eyes.
De: "Lukas, stimmt etwas nicht?
En: "Lukas, is something wrong?"
De: ", fragte sie sanft.
En: she asked gently.
De: "Eigentlich ja", gab Lukas zu.
En: "Actually, yes," Lukas admitted.
De: "Ich habe überlegt... vielleicht ist eine große Hochzeit nicht das, was ich wirklich will."
En: "I've been thinking... maybe a big wedding isn't what I really want."
