Sonal Aggarwal is a Woman on Fire
Chicago comedian Sonal Aggarwal has a fire burning inside her, literally. Before she was captivating audiences as a co-host of The Moth Radio Hour, she was spinning flames as a fire dancer, much to the horror of her family, friends and, honestly, most insurance companies. After a near-fatal motorcycle accident (because apparently fire wasn’t dangerous enough), Sonal put out the flames and grabbed herself a mic, and somehow found stand-up comedy to be the safer career choice. Since then, she’s become one of Chicago’s most magnetic performers, appearing in Hulu’s Out of the Loop and Netflix’s series Easy, while building a life that’s equal parts hilarious, heartfelt, and just a little bit chaotic. Today, the dazzling Sonal Aggarwal joins us to share her journey from fire to funny, through rave culture, theater, weddings she’s officiated, and a deep love of people, storytelling, and language. Plus, we dive into the phenomenon of “Fame Rot” why some artists lose their damn minds when success hits, and how to avoid becoming one of them.
