It’s hard to talk about the lives of LGBTQ+ people without talking about the nightlife scene where so many folks find their home. But for all the attention focused on Stonewall, Fire Island or PTown, most of queer experience, especially for trans and people of color, exists in spaces that most don’t even know about.

In the new book Queer Nightlife, writer Kareem Khubchandani and a collection of academics lift the veil on these special spaces where creativity flourishes as an alternative to the alternative spaces we know and love.

But what's happening to them now that digital media and over policing is changing the nightlife landscape?
