The FBI Had Dirt On Epstein And Chose Not To Act

The FBI possesses information capable of exposing Jeffrey Epstein’s broader trafficking network more than a decade before his 2019 arrest, according to an attorney who represents several survivors. Agents interview a woman identified as “Minor Victim-1,” who says Epstein recruits her at age 14 in 2002, repeatedly sexually abuses her inside his Manhattan residence and pays her to recruit other girls. Attorney Spencer Kuvin says her information could have helped investigators trace Epstein’s operation from New York to Paris and New Mexico. She prepares to testify before a federal grand jury in 2008, but that testimony is canceled after Epstein secures his controversial Florida plea agreement.

The woman later sues Epstein’s estate, describing how he targets her family’s financial hardship, gradually violates her boundaries and leaves her suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, depression and lasting difficulties in her personal life. The aborted federal investigation places renewed scrutiny on the prosecutors responsible for the Florida case, including former U.S. Attorney Alex Acosta and prosecutor Marie Villafaña. Villafaña says Justice Department privilege prevents her from providing a fuller account of her actions, while the known record shows federal authorities possess evidence pointing beyond Epstein himself but shut down the process before investigators can pursue his network.
