ELI5 Dinosaurs - why were they so big?

Were CO2 levels higher too? How are both possible?   ... We explain like i'm five!   Thank you to the r/explainlikeimfive community and in particular the following users whose questions and comments formed the basis of this discussion: vinneh, the_original_retro, thechromaticscale, xeno_man, davehone, cloudnyne, mayumoogy, mgroz83 and zefrogleaps To the ELI5 community that has supported us so far, thanks for all your feedback and comments.
