Vatican Rules Out Women Deacons, Disappoints Advocates

Vatican Commission Concludes Women Should Not Be Ordained as Deacons: The Vaticans recent study commission has decided against ordaining women as deacons, a decision that disappoints many Catholic women seeking more prominent roles. The commissions report suggests further study but proposes new lay ministries for women, indicating the issue is considered closed. Historically, women served as deacons in the early Christian church, but this path remains closed to them. The commissions findings have been met with disappointment from advocacy groups, who call for a more inclusive process. DNN | The Daily News Now! The world’s first global local news network.
