Turkeys Outnumber Humans in 13 NC Counties
In North Carolina, turkeys outnumber humans by a staggering margin, with twenty-seven million turkeys compared to eleven million people. This results in thirteen counties having more turkeys than residents, with Sampson County leading the pack with nearly six and a half million turkeys. Even in Pender County, the fewest turkey-populated county, there are more turkeys than people. Meanwhile, two turkeys, Gobble and Waddle, have found a new home at North Carolina State University as education ambassadors. DNN | The Daily News Now! The world’s first global local news network.
