Nina King Reappointed as Duke Athletics Director

Nina King, Duke Universitys Vice President and Director of Athletics, has been reappointed for a second five-year term, continuing her leadership role through June 2031. King, praised for her exceptional leadership during challenging times, oversees all varsity athletic programs, manages finances, and teaches a sports business course at Dukes Fuqua School of Business. Since 2021, she has guided Duke Athletics through significant changes, including the retirement of legendary coach Mike Krzyzewski and the implementation of new NIL rules. King is now navigating the financial landscape for college athletics following the House versus NCAA settlement, which allows schools to directly pay players from their athletic budgets starting in the 2025-2026 school year. During her tenure, Duke teams have won eleven ACC titles, and she has overseen the hiring of nine new head coaches, including the football head coach, Manny Diaz. King also serves on several important boards and committees within collegiate athletics, including the USA Basketball Board of Directors. DNN | The Daily News Now!
