New Orleans Immigration Crackdown: 5K Arrests Targeted

Federal officials launch massive immigration crackdown in New Orleans, aiming for 5,000 arrests, primarily targeting violent offenders. However, local leaders question the feasibility, citing low violent crime rates and a foreign-born population of around 100,000. The operation, named Catahoula Crunch, involves hundreds of agents from Customs and Border Protection and ICE. Critics warn that to meet the target, agents may broaden their scope beyond violent offenders, potentially destabilizing families and harming the local economy. DNN | The Daily News Now!
