Mamdani Appoints Veteran Official as First Deputy Mayor

New York City Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani appoints Dean Fuleihan, a seasoned budget official, as his first deputy mayor. Fuleihans extensive experience, including serving as former Mayor Bill de Blasios budget director, is expected to bring institutional weight to the new administration. Mamdani also appoints Elle Bisgaard-Church as his City Hall chief of staff, signaling a focus on experienced leadership and a strong operational team. These appointments come as Mamdani prepares to take office as the citys youngest mayor in generations, with an ambitious agenda and questions about the financial realism of his proposed policies.
