Judge Seeks Missing Blood Sample in UNC Student's Murder
A Durham County judge has requested the Chapel Hill Police Department to find a missing blood sample vital to the 13-year-old murder case of UNC student Faith Hedgepeth. The case gained new attention when Salguero-Olivaress lawyers sought access to all blood samples and materials from a specific blood stain in Hedgepeths apartment. A witness claimed to have seen Hedgepeths roommate with blood on her fingers the morning of the murder. The case continues to evolve, with independent testing of a blood stain requested and new charges not yet filed against Salguero-Olivares. The trial is expected to proceed in September.
