A chilling domestic violence tragedy unfolded in Durham this past Saturday when Lontrel Alston, 38, allegedly blocked his ex-girlfriend Victoria James’ car on Revere Road before opening fire, killing her and injuring another woman. Alston, driving a Chevy Trailblazer, forced James to stop, then exited and shot into her vehicle — adding to Durham’s grim tally of over 360 shootings and 17 deaths this year. The teen in the car escaped unharmed. Alston now faces first-degree murder and multiple assault charges as authorities investigate what began as a heated confrontation. The community mourns yet again as gun violence continues to ravage the city.
